Source Protection Plan - Annual Progress Report

It has been three years since the Sudbury Source Protection Plan was implemented and May 1st, 2018 marked the submission date for the 1st Annual Progress Report that helps evaluate the effectiveness of the plan and its policies.

1st Annual Progress Report for Sudbury Source Protection Plan

The Sudbury Source Protection Authority receives annual reports from implementing bodies including The City of Greater Sudbury, The Municipality of Markstay-Warren, Public Health Sudbury and Districts, and Provincial Ministries. The information provided in these reports helps inform the Annual Progress Report submitted to the MOECC. The report looks at the progress made in implementing plan policies and assigns scores based on activities completed by the implementing bodies.

The plan and annual report are requirements of the Clean Water Act, 2006 which was passed by the Ontario Government after the tragic events took place in Walkerton in the year 2000. The Act ensures communities prevent contamination of their drinking water sources by identifying significant threats to source water and developing plans to address these threats.
