Risk Management Plan
The Risk Management Office is established within the City of Greater Sudbury's Water and Wastewater Department and includes one Risk Management Official (RMO) who will be assisted by Risk Management Inspectors (RMI). The Risk Management Office is responsible for the enforcement the Source Protection Plan's part IV policies.
The Risk Management Office is required to release annual progress reports which can be found here.
Risk Management Plans are a policy tool that was used in the Source Protection Plan to address various threats. A Risk Management Plan is a document that outlines measures to reduce or eliminate the risk that a certain activity could contaminate municipal drinking water.
The Risk Management Office will be responsible for working with the affected landowner or individual to prepare risk management plans, approving these risk management plans and monitoring their implementation. Information on risk management plans will be reported annually to the Source Protection Authority, and then the Ministry of to the Environment and Climate Change.
If a landowner living in a vulnerable area has a threat activity on their property that is designated to have a risk management, they would have been previously contacted by mail by the Nickel District Conservation Authority. As implementation of the Source Protection Plan progresses these landowners will be contacted again.
All risk management plans required under the Source Protection Plan will need to be completed by April 2018.
